Devotion | 1 Corinthians 9:19 AMP
“For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to everyone, so that I may win more [for Christ].”
How often do we consider how God desires us to be in servitude to one another?
The Kingdom of God is set up and established by servants who therefore minister to one another continually.
Our ability to serve justifies our call! Many believers of the way or “Christ followers” experience a great pitfall when they fail to make themselves low.
In the book of Matthew 20:28, Jesus says…
“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [paying the price to set them free from the penalty of sin].”
And again in Luke 22: 27 we see…
“For who is the greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.”
So as adopted joint heirs with Christ Jesus we MUST also adopt the mind and mindset of servants. We are to bind ourselves as servants not only to God but to one another.
The Lord exhorts us in scripture when He openly shares that if you love what you cannot see (Him) but do not who you can (your neighbors) then you have not love, this is the same for servanthood!
Many of us find it more reasonable to serve God yet are unwilling to offer ourselves as bondsmen to one another.
Throughout scripture, the Lord examines the hearts of those who are willing to serve in contrast to those who are not, when we serve one another the Lord is pleased.
Servitude grants us all the opportunity to operate in the gifts and abilities bestowed upon us by God for the building up of His Kingdom!
I leave you with 2 questions…
How well are you serving not only those that you find easy to serve but also those that you find more challenging to serve?
What motivates you to serve?
